Hello My Name Is...

Mrs. Acosta

Greetings Tom Lea Students and Parents!

Welcome to an exciting year at Tom Lea Elementary School!

My name is Mrs. Crystal Acosta and I will be your librarian.  I hold a bachelor’s degree in Education from The University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree in Library and Information Science from The University of North Texas.  I have 17 years of education experience in PreK-5th grades.

Our library houses over 15,000 wonderful resources including easy, fiction, non-fiction, reference, and audio-visual materials, as well as various magazines.  Students will begin visiting the library with their class beginning September 10 and continue to do so every three weeks.   During these library lessons students will receive instruction on literature appreciation and information literacy skills, as per the district curriculum.  Students may also visit library during the day with a teacher pass as well as during Open Library Hours: Monday-Friday 7:45 - 3:45.

Special library programs will include the Texas Bluebonnet Award Program, Book of the Quarter Program, AR Monthly Reward Program and Winter/Spring Celebration, as well as hosting a visiting author(s) and our Read Across America Celebration.

Please visit the Tom Lea Library link on the left for more information on our library!
